STRETCH AND FLEX
As the title implies this class is a Stretch and Joint Mobility Class. Each session begins with standing and basic breathing exercises which both calm and energise the body for the work ahead. This is followed by a ‘warm up’, mobilising the joints and gently stretching muscles and continues with more intense stretches and some core stability work; however, everyone has different capabilities and each participant is advised to ‘listen to their body’ and proceed with them as they feel the stretch which may be uncomfortable but must not be painful. The session terminates in the Yoga ‘Corpse Pose’ for five minutes of relaxation. The format of the class is now development stretches and some core work.
As with all Exercise Groups run by the U3A International participants do so at their own risk.
For this Class participants will be required to fill in a Health Screening Questionnaire which must be signed stating that they are attending at their own risk. This questionnaire will be private and confidential and seen only by the Activity Group Leader. the questionnaire is an essential requirement because of the nature of the Class.There will be a small charge to cover the cost of rental of the specialised room.
Chrissie Sierwald is a qualified Personal Trainer, Pilates instructor and holds level 3 Anatomy and Physiology. She has no Yoga Qualification but practices weekly with a Yoga Master and follows daily pain relief postures.
There are weeks when the Leader will be unable to take the Class but participants will be given notice.
