The UK’s forthcoming exit from the EU means that life will change.  Spanish taxation, retirement planning and currency management all have financial implications for individuals in Spain.  Residency rules will change for some expatriates and everyone will need to ensure that their status is correct and in line with legal requirements. Whatever the outcome of Brexit, and informed by the result of the latest UK General Election, this session will review and discuss issues, options and opportunities before a final ’round-up’.

Tax residency in Spain: This section will include tax residency in Spain and access to healthcare; inheritance tax in Andalucia; advantages of a Spanish will; instructions to relatives; Regulation 650 – International Inheritance – as well as providing a Brexit update.

Financial planning considerations in a post-Brexit world: This presentation considers how Brexit will affect everyone, irrespective of the final outcome, from a financial planning perspective. Effective personal financial planning depends on creating an investment, pension, tax and currency strategy – where all elements work together and in context with life and family situations. Highlights will be suggested as to how to create and manage a flexible plan, capable of addressing key Brexit challenges – along with ideas on making the most of being a resident/non-resident in Spain.

There will be changes regarding how and which investment funds can be accessed – and which professional advisers have the necessary permissions to continue to trade with their expatriate clients.  Selecting the right funds and adviser – along with spotting a ‘scam’ before it is too late will feature as a vital part of creating a viable financial plan.
