CRUZ DE LA MISIÓN – MIJAS
This is an out and back walk of approximately 3 hours. It begins in the area known as Puerto Colorado, picking up the Mijas Red Route. The first ten minutes the path zigzags with stone steps in places. There are some inclines and descents, and as is typical of walks in the Sierra de Mijas it is very stony and rocky in places. A good pair of walking boots and a walking pole would be advantageous. There are some amazing views on this walk. On a good day Gibraltar and Africa. Passing the Lime kiln and a quarry the path leads to the Cruz de la Misión shrine. From here going downhill the walk ends at the famous Mijas Hermitage for a break. Afterwards returning along the same route to the car park.
