REVERSE ISTÁN – PUERTO DE LOS BARRACONES

This is the reverse of the revised Country Walk in and around Istan. Walking from the Hotel Altos de Istán, the route goes down into the village and out the other side along a contour track and then gradually climbs up to a good road that heads south and leads back to Moorish irrigation channels that lead back to the village. There is a steep climb back to the  Hotel carpark

Directions to Hotel Altos de Istán

Take the road to Istán. On entering the village, take the right fork (there is a sign to the Hotel). After 150 m, at the bend, turn right towards Piscina Municipal. Drive up the hill, past the sports complex. After a further 200m you will see the hotel on the right. Park in the carpark which is just before the hotel. This is our meeting place.
