MIJAS – PUERTO DE MÁLAGA
This hill walk starts from the ring road just above Mijas village and climbs into the hills as far as the Puerto de Málaga from where magnificent views can be enjoyed on a clear day.
After a short climb from the starting point the picturesque Ermita del Calvario is reached. The walk then climbs steadily along a stony mountain path before reaching an access road that leads to the Puerto del Pino from where there are spectacular views of the coast.
The route then turns inland, climbing to the Puerto de Málaga which is just below the nearby Pico Málaga. A short refreshment break will be taken at this point from where far-reaching views in all directions can be enjoyed.
The route then returns to the start point. This will either be by following an easy loop past Puerto de las Grajas and the Los Arenales quarry, or by retracing the path of the ascent. A decision will be made by the guide on the day depending on conditions.
