VULTURE RESTAURANT
This is a circular walk mainly on a good, wide track with one section up a rough narrow path. The main track gradually climbs through mixed woodland and through a cork oak wood up to the vulture restaurant where, with luck, there will be numerous griffon vultures circling and feeding on farm animal carcasses left for them by the Ayuntamiento. The walk continues on to the head of the valley and follows the track along the opposite side finally reaching an exposed ridge. At this point there are fantastic views of Estepona and beyond. The track continues back to the road and to the start point.
Directions to the Meeting Place
Take the A7 coastal road towards Estepona. At km 153 leave the motorway, and take the slip road, A7, signposted Algeciras and Cádiz until a roundabout at the top of the hill. There is a sign to Casares at the junction with the petrol station. Turn right behind the petrol station and keep straight ahead for 8km until a T junction at the end of this road. Turn right onto the MA 8300, up the hill towards Casares.
After a short while, the Venta Victoria is on the left-hand side; less than 1km past the Venta there is a finger post on a large stone base with the name La Acedia. Take that turn right onto this steep decline, and find a parking place immediately on the right-hand side.
