ISTÁN – PUERTO DE LOS BARRACONES

Walking from the Hotel Altos de Istán the route follows Moorish irrigation channels then heads north along a good road for about 4 Km. There's a short break admiring the wonderful views over the valley. Then the route turns down along a track that passes through orange groves, back towards the village. About 2 km from the village a narrow track is taken passing over a stream by a wooden bridge before climbing a short sharp incline back into Istán. Well deserved refreshments are available in the Plaza (if we can find it in the narrow streets).

Directions to Hotel Altos de Istán

Take the road to Istán. On entering the village, take the right fork (there is a sign to the Hotel). After 150 m, at the bend, turn right towards Piscina Municipal. Drive up the hill, past the sports complex. After a further 200m you will see the hotel on the right. Park in the carpark which is just before the hotel. This is our meeting place.
