PUERTO DE MÁLAGA

Hill Walk February 27, 2017 10:00am Mijas Tourist Office
Keith & Lindsay Pheasant

This is an ´out and back´ walk starting at Mijas village and up into the hills behind where magnificent views can be seen on a clear day. To enjoy the walk a reasonable level of fitness is required and although the pace will be slow, it is steady uphill walk for about 500 metres. Walking poles will be useful.

The walk starts by winding through the village, onto the hills, leaving the chapel to the left and then continuing uphill for about 2 hours. The views can be seen on the way up, on the way down and over the pass at the top.

The path is a good walking surface all the way but does have many loose stones. It is about two people wide most of the way but at times is on the edge of the hill/mountain so a little exposure but safe at all times. The walk is open to the sun so bring a hat and plenty of water. There will be time for a quick snack at the top.

Directions to the Meeting Place:

The Tourist Office is in the centre of Mijas. Drive to the village up the winding road from Fuengirola or come across on the top road from Coín direction. Both end up at the roundabout with a BP garage almost on the corner. Drive into town until you see a "P" parking sign pointing left. Turn left and go down the steep hill towards the parking. Parking is 1 Euro per day. The Tourist Office and toilets are at the top of the parking. We will meet opposite the Tourist Office entrance.
