GUARO – RIO SECO AND ERMITA DE LA CRUZ DEL PUERTO

The walk starts from the roundabout in the centre of Guaro before descending gently on a winding path through orchards and market gardens. After a short section beside the A-7100 road (caution required) the path crosses the main A-366 Coín to Alozaina road and into the farmland of the Rio Seco valley.

After looping westwards the route recrosses the A-366 and makes a long, steady ascent to the Ermita de la Cruz del Puerto.  This is the most strenuous part of the walk.  After a short stop for refreshments the trail descends gently to the start point in Guaro.

Directions to the meeting place

From Marbella

Take the A-355 from Marbella continuing uphill past La Cañada and Ojén.   Turn off the A-355 at the sign for Monda/Guaro.  Continue into Monda, turning left towards Guaro (A-7100) in the town centre.  After reaching Guaro and crossing several speedbumps the road descends gently downhill to the main town roundabout which has "GUARO" in large letters at its centre.  This is the meeting point.  There is usually kerbside parking available on the nearby side streets.

From Coín

Take the A-366 to Alozaina/Tolox/Ronda.  After about 10 kms take a left turn onto the A-7100 towards Guaro.  After entering Guaro the road arrives at the main town roundabout with "GUARO" in large letters at its centre.  This is the meeting place. There is usually kerbside parking available on the nearby side streets.
