This is a lovely walk starting at the Benahavis reservoir, and following the Guadalmina River on the western side, but there is shade in places. The ground has patches of stones in areas but is generally a good walking surface. Perhaps more a medium than an easy walk, with gradients in areas with an overall elevation gain of 116 metres. Passing La Zagaleta and the Goldsmith estate on the other side of the river.

To get to the starting point you need to drive through the town, turning right at the end, down the slope, pass the Amanhavis Hotel and follow the road around the other side of the village to the reservoir.

Due to limited parking at the starting point meet at the Carpark by the church 2 km before entering Benahavis, where the Sunday Market is held and then car share to the starting point or meet at the reservoir for those not wanting to be involved in car sharing, details of this location can be provided on request.

Meeting Point

Take the A7175 turning to Benahavis off the A7, which is the second exit after the San Pedro tunnel from Marbella. Go across the roundabout towards Benahavis. At the next roundabout, decorated with a Benahavis waterfall, go straight on. The road goes under the AP7 and then comes to a crossroads. Go straight across and look for the car park on the right-hand side at about 2 km. This is where the Sunday Market is held, the Church is Ermita Virgen del Rosario.

There is a very distinctive turreted brick and white rendered wall in front of the church. Park at the far end of the wall. Meet at 10.00 am at the car park in front of the Church on the A7175.
