TOLOX – SALTO DE LA REJIA AND UPPER WATERFALLS LOOP
This demanding walk starts at the Balneario (currently closed) in Tolox and follows the Rio de Caballos upstream towards the Charco de la Virgen. Shortly before reaching this point the path branches left and climbs towards the spectacular Salto de la Rejia waterfall. Those not wanting too demanding a walk can retrace their steps to the starting point from here.
The route then continues along a well-marked but narrow mountain path past the Cascada Horcajuelos, the Cascada del Palmarejo and various smaller waterfalls. There are several steep drop offs to negotiate and a demanding ascent up a rocky section. The views in this section are spectacular and it is often possible to encounter mountain goats.
After reaching the Alto de la Cuesta the train descends steeply down to the start point.
Walking poles are recommended for this walk. It is not suitable for vertigo sufferers.
