At a certain point, the river bank is crossed to the path leading up to Istan. This path is a short steep climb, rocky in places, which leads onto a wide concrete and dirt road into the village of Istan. The views down the valley are wonderful with the sea and Marbella in the distance. There are viewing stops in the village and the path passes behind the newly opened Altos de Istan Hotel.
