Presenter:Ragnor Frost
Sala Marbella in the Hapimag Resort, Camilo Jose Cela, Marbella

In this part two of his Middle East Lectures the presenter will try to explain in more detail some of the most important reasons for today’s generally miserable state of affairs in parts of the Middle East. Starting with the Sunni Shia split and the Muslim civil wars he will then progress to cover events during the first world war and onwards up until today, events such as the Iran Iraq war, the Arab “spring” that turned to “autumn”, and the so-called Islamic State. The latter part will be based on the speaker’s own experiences from working and living in the area.

As an  Electrical Engineer, Ragnar Frost lived and worked in the Middle East from 1994 till 2003. Covering all countries from Pakistan to Libya, he specialised in the areas of electricity supply and distribution, industrial automation, marine projects and oil and gas and at the same time developed a keen interest in the culture, history and evelopment of the Middle East.
