ALHAURIN el GRANDE – El FORESTAL via PALOMA GORGE

The walk begins across the road from the Hotel through La Paca and up to the Camino Forestal, which is a pine forest. There is a steady, continuous climb up through the forest on a path that is not strenuous and loops around at a slightly higher level. This path continues to the last moderately difficult climb to the Forest Guard's house. There are stops for breaks to take in the views of the Guadalhorce Valley. The lunch break is at the Forest Guard's house, and the return is back down in another circular route through the forest. Most of the walk is in the shade and finishes back at the El Mirador Hotel for refreshments.

Directions to Meeting Place

From Marbella:

Take the A-355, take the exit for Coin and Mijas, and continue for 6 km on the MA-3303, at the roundabout turn left towards Alhaurin el Grande A-387. After 2 km turn right at the small roundabout following this top road until you get to a roundabout, turn left there. Down the hill for 100 meters and the roundabout take 1st right towards Alhaurin de la Torre and Malaga. Continue along this road, over the roundabouts, until you reach the roundabout with the BP garage. Then after 1.5 km along the A-404, you will see the El Mirador hotel on your left.

From the Malaga area:

Take the A-404 past Churriana and Alharuin de la Torre, keeping the hill to the left, the hotel is 5 minutes after passing Lauro Golf.
