ALPUJATA VALLEY
From Monda village the walk will follow the Roman footpath down to a stream. The stream will likely be dry but still there are pebbles to balance. Having crossed the main road, the path is signposted (to the market) in the direction of the Polígono Monda. A significantly steep gravelled road then leads up towards the forest. There will be a moment or two to catch a breath at the top of the hill before turning right into the pine forests. The unmade but sound road leads through the forest and then down into the Alpujata Valley (a hippy commune during the 1970’s). At the foot of the valley there is a small stream to cross and then the route leads along a made road up past some old lime kilns and then back into Monda.
