BENALMÁDENA CABLE CAR STATION

After parking the cars (sorry no bar for coffee) the walk starts up past a reservoir followed by a steep climb to the Cross & Ermita. The track leads west where there are great views of Fuengirola, and if clear, Morocco. Another climb up a potentially windy track leads to Puerto Viajo followed by the viewpoint at the peak of Monte de Calamorro. Next the track will drop down to the Telecabin Station for a lunch stop where there should be some shelter. Following the lunch stop, the route follows a concrete road and heads down towards Arroya de la Miel, taking a track round the mountain towards the Ermita. Here the track re-joins the earlier track taken upwards, but the route now is downwards in the opposite direction.

Note: There is an option of continuing along the concrete road directly to the cars if the weather turns unpleasant, or any walkers are tired.

Directions to the Meeting Place:

Turn off the A7 above Arroya de la Miel at exit 222 & cross under the A7. Drive up the mountain to a large roundabout and turn right. At the T junction, turn left onto Calle Agabe. The buildings on the left are Los Carmenes Urbanisation. Park on the road at the 4th block, near the zebra crossing opposite some waste ground. This is the start of the walk.
