COTO DE RIO GUADAIZA, LA ZAGALETA
Coto de Rio Guadaiza, La Zagaleta: This is an ‘out and back’ walk above the Guadaiza river. The peaceful trail meanders through pine woods and rocky outcrops and affords magnificent views of the surrounding unspoilt countryside and to the sea. It is not uncommon to encounter goats, sheep and occasionally pigs. Dogs may therefore need to be quickly brought to heel. There are no major obstacles to progress and the walk is rated easy to medium, although there is a moderate ascent at the beginning. Halfway there will be the usual stop before returning. Subsequent refresment can be taken at Los Almendros Venta on the right after los Arqueros golf course or at the 'All-in-one' at Los Halcones 200 metres further on the left.
Dog owners, please note that the poisonous Processional Caterpillars are out Feb/March. They can be lethal to dogs.
Directions
Follow the A397 Ronda road above San Pedro, passing Los Arqueros golf course on the left, the south entrance to La Zagaleta, El Coto restaurant and El Madronal north entrance on the right.
