ISTÁN – PUERTO DE LOS BARRACONES

Beginning at the Hotel Altos de Istán, the route follows Moorish irrigation channels and then heads north along a good road for about 4 Km. There is a stopping point where walkers can admire the wonderful views over the valley before leaving the road to turn down a path through orange groves and back towards the village. About 2 km from the town, the path branches off to the left, passing through the trees at a higher level, avoiding the steep incline into Istan. The walk now finishes at the Hotel Altos de Istan, where refreshments and tapas are served on the hotel's terrace.

Directions to the Meeting Place

From Marbella

Take the A7116 road to Istán. On entering the village, take the right fork (there is a sign to the Hotel Altos de Istan). After 150 m, at the bend, turn right towards Piscina Municipal. Drive up the hill, past the sports complex. After a further 200m, the hotel is on the right-hand side. Park in the car park, which is located just before Hotel Altos de Istan.
