The route sets out along a forest path beside a stream, climbing up to the remains of an old hermitage.  Although not a long or particularly arduous walk it does involve some climbing over rocks, crossing of streams and a short section traversing a hillside with the help of fixed chains. Therefore walkers need to be sure-footed.

After passing the ruined hermitage, the path continues to rise gently until it reaches a point with great views of Marbella, Puerto Banús and across to Gibraltar and North Africa on a clear day.  It is then a circular route back to the start via ancient paths some of which have been reduced to animal tracks.  The final section of the walk skirts an exclusive residential development.

Directions to the Meeting Place

This walk starts in the Xarblanca area of Marbella to the north of the bus station.

Take exit 184 from the A7 (Marbella Bus Station) and head north, driving across the (first) roundabout at the Bus Station, also passing the petrol station. Continue straight over the second roundabout towards the large Club Med hotel. At the third roundabout take the third exit and drive up the hill leaving Club Med on the right-hand side. Cross over a small roundabout and continue to follow this road as it swings around sharply to the left before turning right into Avenida La Florida where there is a sign for a car park (also for Colegio Xarblanca). Continue uphill on Avenida La Florida for 600m until the road turns left.  There is a car park on the left here which is the meeting place.
