PECHO de los LOBOS, ALHAURIN el GRANDE, SIERRA de MIJAS

This is a lovely circular walk around the Pecho de los Lobos on the western side of the Sierra de Mijas. There is about 80% shade, and at the beginning, a steady 300m climb with some loose stones in places, lasting about 1 hour. There are lovely views of the Sierra Alpujata; being surrounded by pine woods, it is very tranquil. From the top of the climb, it is all downhill. The BP cafeteria on the Alhaurin roundabout is a great place to stop afterward, as the food and service are excellent. The park area is the starting point, and then into the pine forest.

Directions

From Marbella 

Take the A-355 from the La Canada shopping centre roundabout towards Ojen and Monda. Continue on this road for 25 km until you see signs for Mijas Fuengirola MA-3303, take this turning. After 6 km, there is the large Alhaurin de Grande roundabout; take the 2nd exit towards Mijas on A-387. The park is 150 m on the left-hand side of the road. Be careful turning left, then park on the dirt on either side of the road.   

From Coin.

Take Mijas Fuengirola MA-3303, crossing the A-355, and after 6 km, there is the large Alhaurin de Grande roundabout, take the 2nd  exit towards Mijas on A-387. The park is 150 m on the left-hand side of the road. Be careful turning left, then park on the dirt on either side of the road.
