RIO PEREILAS VALLEY (REVERSE)

Leaving the venta the route immediately goes up a fairly steep hill until we reach the pine forest. Turning left the walk passes through the pines. It descends past an old Burro trekking station. The track meanders through avocado groves and almond trees until it reaches the Mancha Valley with a view of the white cliffs of a dolomite quarry (dolomite is used in glass making and furnace linings). The route goes directly down into the valley and walk along a short length of tarmac road. Turning back on itself the track moves back up the valley along a gentle incline looking down onto the river, Rio Pereilas. Then the path leads back to the starting point through the avocado groves with views over the surrounding hills.

Take the A355. Continue past Monda. After Km 16 you will see a BP garage on the right. Take the junction and drive all the way round the BP garage and park in front of the venta, Taberna de Urbaneja. This is our meeting place.
