TOLOX – RIO GRANDE

There is a drive from the meeting point to the start  of the walk near Tolox (car sharing is recommended). The walk itself is in the Rio Grande Valley close to Tolox where the river is still small. It follows a dirt track past pomegranate trees, orange trees and olive groves. At the half way stage there will be a break next to the river. There are a couple of very shallow streams to cross as well as some hills to ascend.
The route is in the shape of a figure 9. The start and end point is at a country venta where refreshments can be taken afterwards.

From Marbella

Take the A355 towards Ojén. Continue past Ojén. At Kilometre 20 take the exit to Monda/Guaro. After 200m turn left under the bridge and follow the Monda/Guaro signs until the T junction in the centre of Monda. Turn left. 50 metres down the hill from here is a speed bump and La Jaula Bar. At this point turn sharp right into the car park.

From Coín/Alhaurín/Cártama

Take the A355 towards Marbella. After Kilometre 16 take the Monda exit. Follow the winding road into the centre of Monda. Keep to the right at the junction (following signs to Guaro). 50 metres down the hill from here is a speed bump and La Jaula Bar. At this point turn sharp right into the car park.
