With the foundation of Constantinople or the “New Rome” in 330 AD a new style developed called Byzantine. Following the collapse of the Western Roman Empire in 476 AD the Eastern Empire produced magnificent examples that can still be admired today. An analysis of new building techniques and the aesthetic values of the Byzantine style will take place. There will also be a discussion of the impact on the rest of Europe.
